Healthy building is booming, which is why the formaldehyde-free gluing of wood is becoming more and more relevant. We have already been manufacturing our products 100 percent formaldehyde-free for many years on account of the proven negative effects of formaldehyde on human health. After all, the facts have been absolutely clear for a long time:
- The WHO classifies formaldehyde as carcinogenic!
- Formaldehyde vapours from adhesives, e.g. glues with MUF or PRF (melamine urea or phenol resorcinol formaldehyde resin) are carcinogenic if inhaled.
- Continuous exposure to adhesives and glues containing formaldehyde can be harmful to your memory, ability to concentrate and sleep.
- Formaldehyde in room air can lead to irritation of the eyes, respiratory tract and throat.
By using PU (polyurethane) glues, we are able to retain the natural character of the wood and process it in a first-class quality. We also use the patented primer from Henkel for products made of larch.
Optimum glued joint strength with the primer from Henkel
The most important aspect of load-bearing timber structures is the strength of the glued joint. Larch wood poses a very special challenge in this respect. This is why we use a primer that has been specially developed for larch before applying the glue. Specifically, we apply LOCTITE PR 7010 Purbond for larch wood to the surface of the parts to be joined after lamella planing. The aqueous, solvent- and formaldehyde-free primer guarantees a homogeneous and first-class quality bond.
Products developed and manufactured by Weinberger are glued 100% formaldehyde-free.
